Biography

Maria Jane Wheeler was born 18 May 1835 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was the daughter of Benjamin Wheeler and Mary Eliza Wathen. ^{[1] [2]}

About 1857, probably in Missouri, Maria married (1) James G.W. Fenwick. ^[2] He was a descendant of Joseph Fenwick, who founded the “Fenwick Settlement” of Maryland Catholics in Perry County, Missouri around 1803. James and Maria lived in Brazeau in the area around the old Fenwick Settlement, then later moved to Bolivar in Hardeman County, Tennessee. James died Bolivar in 1870, right before the 1870 U.S. census was taken. ^[3] Maria and James G.W. Fenwick had one son, James G.W. Fenwick, Jr. (1869-1892).

Maria Fenwick Walker died on Christmas Day 1923 in Los Angeles, California. ^[4]
