Biography

BIRTH
Ethel Amelia Ann Wheeler was born 25 September 1899 near Montezuma in Scott Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa to Amelia Ann (Carter) and Luther Wheeler. [1]

MARRIAGE
Harland Perrin, 24, and Ethel Wheeler, 26, married 10 October 1928 in Charles City, Iowa. [2]They had no children.

OCCUPATION
Ethel Wheeler "received her education in the rural schools of Poweshiek County and attended Charles City Business College. Before her marriage she was employed by the Farmers Bank of Charles City as a secretary to Wm. F. Fairbanks. During WW II she was employed at the Oliver Corp. as a private secretary." [3]

Ethel and Harland established "Perrin's Kustomized Kitchens" in Charles City in 1948. [4] Harland was the manager and cabinet maker; Ethel was bookkeeper and secretary.

DEATH AND BURIAL
Ethel Perrin died 16 April 1983 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa. She is buried with Harland at Masonic IOOF Cemetery, Montezuma, Poweshiek County, Iowa. [5]

"Mrs. Harland Perrin, age 83, died Saturday morning April 16, 1983 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital, Charles City, IA. Ethel Amelia Wheeler was born Sept 25, 1899 at Montezuma, IA, the daughter of Luther and Amelia Wheeler. At an early age her mother died. She received her education in the rural schools of Poweshiek County and attended Charles City Business College. Before her marriage she was employed by the Farmers Bank of Charles City as a secretary to Wm. F. Fairbanks. During WW II she was employed at the Oliver Corp. as a private secretary. On Oct. 10, 1928, she was married to Harland J. Perrin in Charles City. She worked for their own business “Perrin Kustomized Kitchens” as a bookkeeper and secretary until 1978, the time of their retirement. She was a member of the Faith Bible Chapel, the Ladies Aid and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Harland, one niece,...two grand nephews and several cousins of Baltimore, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Cecil Wheeler of Montezuma. Casket Bearers: Bill Buckler, Allen Carr, Rick Dutcher, Mike Haugom, Sheldon Laffe, Jesse Lumm, Noel Matson, Brice Menzie, Keith Webster. Interment Services: Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Montezuma, Iowa."
