Biography

Russell was born on 8 July 1893 in Port Perry, Ontario, Ontario, the son of Isaac Wheeler^[1] and Mary Bravener.^[2] Their family lived in Reach, Ontario where his father worked as a butcher.^[3] By 1911, they were living in Edmonton, Alberta; Russell and his brother, William joined their father as butchers.^[4] By 1916, his father had passed away; their family continued to live in Edmonton.^[5][6]

Russell moved from Edmonton to San Francisco, California about 30 Dec 1921. He applied to become a naturalized United States citizen in 1925; he was living at 765 Grand Ave. in South San Francisco, San Mateo county, California.^[7]

He married his first cousin, Mary (Baker) Talbott. In 1940, they were living in Los Angeles, California (with her two sons); Russell worked as a butcher in a retail meat market.^[8]

Russell registered to the US World War II Draft in 1942.^[9]

Russell died (age 53) on 29 August 1946 in Los Angeles, California.^[2] and was buried in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California.^[10]
