Biography

John Wheeler son of George and Catherine (Pinn/Penn) Wheeler was born at Concord, Massachusetts on March 19, 1643/4. [1] [2] [3]

John married Sarah Larkin on March 25, 1663/4 at Concord. [2] [1] [3] [4] Sarah was born at Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay Colony (now part of Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts) on March 12, 1647/8. She was a daughter of Deacon Edward Larkin and Joanna (____) Larkin. [5]

1664 - 1682 -- John and Sarah Larkin Wheeler had nine children: six daughters (Sarah, Joanna, Mary, Lydia, Esther, and Thankful) and three sons (Samuel, Edward, and Ebenezer). [6]

1684 -- John Wheeler was Constable of Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. [7]

John Wheeler died at Concord, Massachusetts on September 27, 1713. [1] [8] [9]

In the Concord town records he was called “John Wheeler Senior." [10]

October 21, 1713 -- an agreement for the settlement of his estate is made by his widow Sarah, and his children Samuel, Edward and Ebenezer, on their own accounts, and Wm Woodbury, John Meriam, Timothy Wheeler, Sam'l Prescott and Jonas Prescott on behalf of their wives, as named below.

John Wheeler of Concord died intestate, and the only probate record in Middlesex County Probate Records, Packet #24,290 was an agreement for settlement of the estate dated October 21, 1713. That document reads [transcribed from FHL Microfilm 0,432,078]:

Know all men by these presents that we the subscribers Beeing the Children of the late deceased our Honored father John Wheeler and meeting together with our mother as at Her House after the death of our father and finding that he has made disposall of All his Lands with the buildings there upon by Deeds of Gift unto his three sons yet notwithstanding finding there was left considerable of moveable estate & that our Honored mother was well provided for by what was secured in our Brother Ebenezers hands during her life & for a Honorable buriall did then agree with the consent and at the desire of our Honored mother to make devision of two thirds of the movable Estate amongst us with this pro...all that wee do Engage mutaly to pay all debts that can legaly be claimed. [11]
From sd Estate the other third part our Honored mother is to enjoy as long as she lives & & it is her will & pleasure that at her death Her thirds shall be equaly devided amongst her children the subscribers or their heirs and the abovesd Ebenezer Wheeler doth by these presents promise & engage that he wil not devide nor dispose of any part thereof namely of his mothers thirds but at his mothersdeath Resign up what Remaineth to be devided amongst them except such things as are worn out. And as to our mothers waring clothes as it is her pleasure they they should be equaly devided amonst her five daughters or their children in case of their decease or any one of them so likewise the sd Ebenezer Wheeler doth engage as of the other estate so of them faithfuly to deliver them to whom they shal belong & & wee do all promise and engage firmly by these presents to stand by & bee well satisfied with what Devision or distribution we have now made without making any further claime excepting what is spesified in the promises in writing whereof and for the further confirmation of this our mutuall agreement we have set to our hands & seals this twenty first day of october in the year of our lord oned thousand seven hundred and thirteen and in the twelfth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Ann Queen of Great Britain &c.
