John Wheeler Jr., the son of John Wheeler and his third wife Elizabeth Stanbridge (widow of William Ridge), was born in June of 1689. His father John Wheeler Sr. died in 16 Dec 1691 when John Wheeler Jr. was only about 1.5 years old. His mother then remarried; her third husband, then stepfather of John Wheeler Jr. was Richard Steere. No further records have been found for John Wheeler Jr., and he does NOT appear in the will of his step father Richard Steere who died on 20 Jun 1721, though his living Wheeler siblings are cited in this document; therefore it seems probable that John Wheeler Jr. died young.

) {Editorial notes by Beebe-1766: This was a sizeable, but not massive estate, certainly ample to place the John Wheeler family in the well-to-do social strata of Colonial New London. It is interesting to observe some of the heavy-handedness of the New London Probate Court. First of all, the probate court was clearly stonewalling the disbursement of funds from the estate, to the widow, the heirs, and the creditors. In fact, for eight long years after the death of John Wheeler, it appears that none of the assets of the estate had been released, and by this time the creditors were threatening to sue the widow Elizabeth Wheeler's new husband, Richard Steer, for monies they were owed by the estate of John Wheeler. Furthermore, there were no disbursements for the provision of the family until 1700, nine years later and even then a total of £0 was allowed for the provision and care of the two youngest children. When the assets of the estate were finally disbursed in 1700, the children of John Wheeler were apprenticed (essentially remanded to slave labor in return for being taught a trade skill), and estates debts were paid; but even then only £676 of the original £1382 appraised assets were distributed at this point in time. Apparently the balance of the estate, likely the real estate portion, continued to be held by the probate court until it was finally released to Joshua Wheeler 1723, when he sold the land holdings of his "father John Wheeler" to Solomon Coit, for £2000. This land sale by Joshua Wheeler explicity states that he is the only son of John Wheeler, thereby absolutely affirming that his brothers; Zaccheus, William, and John, had all died prior to this land sale, leading one to wonder how much culpability did this tyrannical probate court have in their early deaths?}
) Wheeler Genealogy; page 6, 7:JOHN WHEELER, son of Thomas Wheeler (1578-1641) was the first son of Thomas'es second wife (identity unknown). John Wheeler was baptized on 14 Mar 1626/7 and he died at New London, Connecticut on 16 Dec. 1691. It is probable that his first marriage was at Clerkenwell, St. James, England on 10 Jul 1649, to MARY BRYAN; with a second probable marriage St. Benet Paul's Wharf, Middlesex, England on 27 Nov 1662, to MARY MORGAN. (From the Registers of St. Benedict and St. Peter, Paul's Wharf, London, Willoughby A. Littledale, ed.; London, 1910, Vol. 39 of Harlein Society Publications, v. 2, 46). John Wheeler, on or about 1674 and now living in Connecticut in the Colonies, married third at New London, ELIZABETH (STANBRIDGE) RIDGE, widow of William Ridge, whom she had married first at Clerkenwell, St. James, England on 8 Oct 1661. Elizabeth survived John as a widow and she married third, Richard Steere.
