Biography

Ephraim had two wives:[1]

m1 Sarah Turney (see comments on father's profile)
m2 Sarah Sherwood

Research Notes

  • May have had three wives. Mary Wheeler; Sarah Nouguier and Sarah Wheeler.
  • FamilySearch has two Ephraim Wheeler's. One married Sarah Sherwood and one married a Sarah Spring. This is causing confusion of children. I believe the list in WikiTree is correct (Katherine, Abiah, Andrew, Jedediah), because of where they were born. [2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ephraim by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ephraim:

Somebody seems to have disconnected the 2nd wive (Turney) mentioned in this bio, without removing mention of her from the bio or explaining the issue. This is not a great best practice, and is will inevitably result in other WikiTreers and our readers repeating the same error over time.

For example, Family Search asserts this profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wheeler-1976

...Ellen, is the daughter of this Ephraim by his missing wife Turney. That may or may not be true.

Family Search also gives that Ephraim a brother Ephraim, both alive at the same time. While not unheard of, that's exceptionally rare and so more likely evidence of an amateur genealogy error (Ancestry.com style "just click it and make it true, DONE!" which unfortunately happens a lot there).

Could the profile manager(s) summarize the known issues to avoid, with this profile? Or tidy up the bio to remove the disconnected wife?

Wheeler-4130 and Wheeler-1736 appear to represent the same person because: I don't have great information, but everything I've found indicates that Wheeler-4130 is the son of Ephraim and Sarah Anne (Turney) Wheeler, which would make Wheeler-4130 a match to Wheeler 1736.
