Death

The Windham, Connecticut Vital records list a death for "Elizebeth Simth, wife of Elisha" on 20th January 1703.^[5] However, Elisha's probate file shows four children, and a widow Elizabeth. The Windham, Connecticut Vital Records record the births of two children, Martha and Mary, to Elisha Smith and Elizabeth after 1703. So either there is an error in the death record, or Elisha remarried to another Elizabeth.^[6]

According to birth records found for Elizabeth Wheelock, either this Elizabeth married Elisha Smith or another Elizabeth Wheelock married Elisha Smith . This Elizabeth's Familysearch record ID is L23W-M5V and the other one is LL4Y-9BD. The marriage record only shows the name Elizabeth Wheelock without any parents names to show which one married Elisha. Familysearch has Elisha married to both of the Elizabeth's. Although parents were not named in the marriage record, after the death of Elisha, Ralph Wheelock, brother to this Elizabeth Wheelock was appointed guardian of the minor Seth Smith.
