Alvin was born in 1789. He was the son of Alvan Wheelock and Olive Warren. Alvin came to New York, and lived in Oswego County, about 1820 (birth of son Hiram) and Herkimer County about 1829 (burial of daughter Theodolia). According to the 1855 NY State Census, Alvin came to Sheridan, New York in 1855. He passed away in 1858.
