Thomas Jefferson Wheelock, known as Jefferson, was born sometime between 1805 and 1808, probably in New Hampshire. He was the son of Simeon Wheelock and Molly Scott.
By 1860, Jefferson relocated to Rock Island, Illinois where his mother and sibling were living.
Jefferson died of "softening of the brain", the week ending 9 December 1882 at the age of 76.

1880 Census -Rock Island Twp, Rock Island, Illinois - no occupation b 1808 VT - in boarding house?
Jefferson Wheelock (in 1860) and Thomas Wheelock (in 1870) living with John Sargent are the same person. This assumption is based on his mothers estate which names son Thomas J. Wheelock, and then also in the account of the estate of Wesson Wheelock there is a receipt for payment in 1858 to Thomas Jefferson Wheelock in Rock Island for cash lent in 1854, 1855 to Wesson Wheelock.
↑ Both the location and exact year of his birth vary in records (see research notes), but his siblings all seem to be born in New Hampshire.
