Biography
Daniel was born by 1786 (based on an age of 21 to sign petition as a member of the second parish of Dorchester). The first record of him is his intention to marriage to Sally Gilson 14 Dec 1811 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Daniel and Sally married 15 April 1812 in Hollis, (recorded in Dunstable, Massachusetts, very near New Hampshire).[1]
Daniel and Mary had two children born in Dorchester, whose births were recorded in the Dunstable vital records in 1816:
- Mary K. b 15 Jun 1812
- Catherine b 6 Mar 1814.
Sally remarried in 1818, so Daniel probably died sometime before then. Its possible that he died in 1816, and that the births of his children were recorded by his widow after returning to her hometown to live with family.
Research notes
Other Wheelock's in Dorchester at this time include Silas Wheelock and Abel Wheelock. As we don't have a good age estimate for Daniel its difficult to evaluate whether he could have been a son of Abel Wheelock and Catherine Baxter. Its possible that Daniel's daughter was named for his mother.
There are no deeds or probate records in Norfolk for Daniel or guardianship records for his daughters.
In 1807, signed a petition to become a member of the second parish of Dorchester (also signed by Abel Wheelock)
