Phebe Whipple was born March 9, 1799, in Tolland County, Connecticut, a daughter of Zebulon II and Lydia Russell. On May 9, 1825, Phebe married Eliakim Dewey, born August 12, 1794, a son of Timothy Dewey and Aseneth Sexton. [1]
Phebe's father was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War and Daughter of the American Revolution Ancestor #A124195. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of Phebe and her husband Eliakim Dewey. [2] Children of Phebe and Eliakim include:
Hannah Sophia Dewey, born September 22, 1826, in Franklin Township, Portage county, Ohio, died December 13, 1907, in San Jacinto, Riverside County, California, married Harvey Campbell 1830-1898. [3]
Timothy Gilbert Dewey, born May 20, 1828, in Portage County, Ohio, died March 13, 1906, in Liberty, Gage county, Nebraska, married Margaret Adeline Pilcher on April 13, 1862 in Mitchell Co. IA. They were divorced before 1883. [4]
Eliza Maria Dewey, born December 19, 1831, in Portage county, Ohio, died June 28, 1922, in Liberty, Gage County, Nebraska, married Henry Hoyt Beardsley [5]
Phebe (Whipple) Dewey died March 15, 1832, at the age of 33 years and is buried in the Stow Street Cemetery, in Kent, Portage, Ohio. [6]
