James Whipple Jr. was born at Ipswich, Massachusetts on April 12 1705, son of Deacon James and Mary (Fuller) Whipple. [1][2][3]
He moved with his father from Hamilton to Hassanamisco (Grafton) having previously united with the church at Hamilton and where his eldest daughter was baptized. [2][3]
He married Sarah Adams on January 9, 1728/9. Sarah was born at Ipswich on March 2, 1709, daughter Samuel and Mary (Burley) Adams. [1][2][3][4]
James died at Grafton on February 8, 1759. [5][2][3][4] He is buried in the Old Oak Street Burial Ground at Grafton. His inscription reads: Here Lies ye Body of James Whipple who Departed This Life February ye 8th 1759 In the 54 year of his Age[6]
The court ordered on April 7, 1759, that an inventory of his estate be taken. On the same date, widow Sarah Whipple and James Whipple Jr. provided bond as administrators of the estate. [7]
In the division of the estate of James Sr., who died intestate, the court ordered that the real estate valued at L512 be divided among the four children as follows; [7]
sons James Jr. and John Whipple
daughters Lydia Whipple and widow Mary Winchester. [7]
The court ordered further that James Whipple Jr. pay his sisters Sarah Willard, wife of Isaac Willard and sister Eunice L64 each. And ordered that John Whipple pay his brother Daniel the same amount. [7]
The following persons, signed final settlement on May 20, 1760, as satisfied with the above divisions:

Mary Sherman and Ephraim Sherman Jr.
Ephraim Sherman Jr. as guardian for Daniel and Lydia
His widow Sarah died on November 22, 1759. [5][2][3][4]
James' father, Deacon James Sr., wrote his will on February 16, 1759, shortly after his sons death. In it he names among others, his grandsons, james, John and Daniel, sons of James, deceased. [3]

Eunice born on March 10, 1740; died ___; married Jonathan Rice at Worcester on January 14, 1761 . [2][3][5]
John born May 21, 1742; died at the age of 69 on August 18, 1811; married Ruth Adams on June 20, 1765. [2][3][5]
Daniel baptized on December 23, 1744; died on March 8, 1744/5. [5]
Lydia born on August 10, 1747; married Samuel Hall on December 18, 1766; removed to Spencer.[2][3][5]
Daniel born on December 2, 1750; died on December 30, 1796; married Martha Adams April 17, 1776. [2][3][5]
