Biography

Hannah was born about 1734 in Maryland.

On December 12, 1754 she married Joseph Guyton. The marriage was recorded in St. John's Parish Register which recorded marriages for Harford and Baltimore Counties in Maryland. [1]

She passed away May 30, 1812 in Union County, South Carolina.

Research Notes

South Carolina is 548 miles south of Harford, Maryland, so for her to be born in South Carolina, married in Maryland 1754, and then going back to South Carolina, is questionable?

There is no real proof as to her parentage. She seems to be conflated a lot with this Hannah Whitaker, who is listed as her sister currently. They are often conflated, but are having children at the same time with different men, and thus cannot be the same person. More research is needed to separate the two.

Her marriage was sourced through a family group sheet, which is unreliable. She was listed as being born in 1734 in South Carolina, Joseph Guyton in 1730 in Maryland, and their marriage as being in 1754. there is a 2nd source images attached

Replaced birth date '26 Mar 1729' with 1734 from Yates record. The 1734 date belongs to Whitaker-25.

The Revo War pension record for Aaron Guyton has testimony from Hugh Whittaker, stating that he knew the couple for 30 years. Relationship to Hannah Whitaker - brother? No page number, but it's 390 of 845 pages.

wikipedia.com The Province of Maryland was an English and later British colony in North America that existed from 1632[2] until 1776, not known as Maryland Colony. (Redirected from Maryland Colony to Province of Maryland)

I'm glad someone is straightening this out! Hope it stays that way.
I removed Abraham Whitaker and Ann Poteet as parents, they are the parents of Hannah Whitaker-26.

This profile is conflated. It's a combination of Hannah Whitaker and Hannah Lyon.

Lyon-4771 married Wm Crabtree IV.

Whitaker-25 married Wm Crabtree III

It looks like one of the Hannah Whitaker’s is not the daughter of Abraham and Ann Poteet, but they are often combined into one person (so much that they may be duplicates?) but they were having children with different men at the same time.
