James "Whitcumb" died on 26 June 1728 at Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay.[3]
James Whitcomb of Rochester signed his Will on 22 Sept 1727.[4] The Will was proved in late 1729 approved and allowed in probate on 1 Dec 1730. In it, he mentioned:

daughter Mary Davis
two granddaughters: Marcy and Mary Chapman, daughters of daughter Joannah Chapman, deceased
son Nathaniel, James and Robert
sons James and Nathaniel to be Executors
