Biography

Isaac White was born on 4 Jun 1752 in Kent Co. Delaware and died on 18 August 1819 in Washington County, Tennessee. He married on 12 October 1775 in Guilford County, NC to Sarah Vaughn. Sarah was born 1755 in Hanover County, Virginia to David Vaughn and Susannah (maiden name unknown). Isaac and Sarah had several children, of which the first three (Mary, David, and William), were born in Guilford County. Isaac lived near the courthouse and served in the 1st division of Capt. William Bethell's company of NC militia. Capt. Bethell gave him a note of introduction dated March 1782, when he moved his family to Washington County. This note, which refers to his past "very active" service in the 1st division, has been interpreted to mean that he served in the battle of Guilford Courthouse, which he probably did.
