No such son, Richard White (1587-1684) is mentioned in the will of the purported father, Robert White.[1]
Nor do records supporting the birth/baptism of a son Richard appear in the Shalford church records.[2]
The death reported about this Richard seems likely variant of that which is otherwise reported about early New England immigrant, John White, known son of Robert White.[3] In his review of the immigrant John White (d. Hartford), Robert Charles Anderson identified the baptism of his son, John, Messing, Essex, 28 December 1623,[4] but the son was not further identified as a man associated with the place Brookline, Mass. Of the son John bap. 1623, Anderson found "no further record."
Quite separately, John White, d. Brookline 15 April 1691 was the principal in an 1898 article by Thomas J. Lothrop, "John White of Watertown and Brookline, and some of his descendants," published in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register (volume 52).

Re: disputed parents of Richard White - it's possible that the confusion comes from an entry in "England and Wales Christening Records, 1530 - 1906" that lists Richard White christened 27 May 1586, father Robert White. However the place of christening was Salisbury, Wiltshire, England rather than Essex.
