Biography

Stephen William White Jr. was born in 1759 in Bedford County, Virginia, to parents Stephen William (Sr.) and Agatha Agnes (Bramlett) White.

Raised in Bedford Stephen would marry twice in his life. He married first Mary "Polly" Rushton, the daughter of unknown parents, in 1785 in Bedford. Stephen and Polly would have one child:

Stephen (III) White (1786-1786)

Evidently Polly died in 1786 as a result of birth complications.

Stephen married his second wife, Theodosia "Dosha" White, the daughter of John and Sarah "Sally" (Gum) White, in 1789 in Campbell County, Kentucky. Stephen and Theodosia had six children as follows:

James White (1790–1844)

Theodosia White (1792–died young)

John C. White (1793–1853)

Ambrose White (1796–1840)

Rowland White (1798–died young)

Thomas C. White (1807–died young)

At some point after Dosha died, Stephen moved to Bond County, Illinois. This is where he died in 1820. His body was buried back in the White Family Cemetery in Adair County, Kentucky, among many relatives.
