Biography

Jacob White was born in Hardy County, West Virginia, on Jan 23, 1804.[1][2] He moved with his parents, Samuel and Jane (Stewart) to Franklin County, Ohio and settled near the town of Franklinton, some time between 1807 and 1811[3] On January 16, 1831 he married Eliza White Alkire[2], in Franklin County, Ohio. [1] This marriage produced 10 children: Mary M.[1][2], John A.[1], James Courtney[1][2], Emanuel Alkire[1][2], Sarah Jane[1][2], Margaret Ann[1][2][4], Jacob Huffman[1][2], Elias Alkire[1][2], Eliza Ellen[1][5], and Isabelle[1][2]. In 1846 Jacob was elected Justice of the Peace for Franklin Township, Franklin County, Ohio, holding this office until 1849.[6] Outside of public service, Jacob worked as a farmer[1]. He died on Jan. 19 1872[1][2] and was buried at Union Methodist Cemetery, in Columbus Ohio[2].
