It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi Martin,

I enjoyed browsing your one name study site for West Lulworth. I added parents for Radigen Tewkesbury (Williams) Rains to WikiTree. They're also from West Lulworth. I have fond memories of walking in that beautiful area. Your site is really helpful. Jenny, Australia.

Thank you Jenny for your kind comments :)

Hi Martin,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's six-monthly check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we do not hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Hi Martin,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Martin, I've added a few details to Elizabeth Frink. She's a sculptor and they are focussing on them next week. I don't really want to add too much without your 'say so' as you are pm.

She should be linkable through her mother.

I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We've achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.

As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members.

Are you happy to stay in your current project teams? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?

Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Martin,

The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.

Regards Joan

Hi Martin,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Lizzie, Amy, Joan

Hello Martin,

I think my 3xgreat aunt Maria Harrison needs to moved to be a Williams. The record of her marriage to Henry Fuller shows she was a widow and her father was James Williams.

I'm still finding my way around so I'm happy for you to do it or to put me on the list so I can.

Also, less of a change, but Edward Winmill should really be a Windmill. His birth, marriage and army records are Windmill. The 1891 census seems to be the first time he uses Winmill.

Michael

The marriage record is:

Surrey, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1937 for Maria Harrison Frimley, St Peter 1755-1884

1849 Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of Frimley in the County of Surrey No. 102 26th November

Henry Fuller 26 Widower Laborer Frimley Nathl Fuller Laborer

Maria Harrison 31 Widow - Frimley Jas Williams Laborer

Hi Martin,

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. I wanted to thank you for your work on English Profiles and particularly your work in the Wiltshire, Dorset, Sufflok, Gedcom and Categories teams.

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the project leaders for everything you do.

Joan

Hi Martin

I am just checking in with you as a member of the Cumbria, Cumberland and Westmorland Team. We are entering the last 8 days of the England regional go Green Challenge reducing the suggestions, unsourced and unconnected numbers. On the 13th the Northern Region were in the lead for the challenge with drop of 16,728!

As your regional cheer leader - I am encouraging everyone to go go go

Hi Martin, I noticed your new free space page for Kingston Maurward. Did you know that https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Singer_(cycle_manufacturer) was born in the old manor house? His father was farm bailiff. There's a plaque on the outside wall, I have taken a photo I've also taken some photos of the inside of Kingston Maurward House. I'll see if I can find them (or take them again)

Hi, Martin,

Looked at an unsourced Dorset profile, James Galpen-3, it has become apparent that his LNAB was Whitmarsh; he seems to have chosen Galpin (not Galpen) himself. Is it worth trying to change it? Thanks, Russell

Martin, thanks for your message, I've only just spotted it. I don't want to commit to any particular job at the moment as I'm writing a dissertation. (that's why I stepped down) . I'm keeping wikitree as a form of distraction, so I'll continue to try to help out on profiles of people from Dorset but at the moment nothing that involves sustained work.

Dear Martin,

Although I'm associated with the Yorkshire and Lancashire counties on Project England because of my research, I live in Devizes, Wiltshire and, as you know, have been helping out on some Wiltshire profiles.

I also volunteer with the Devizes Museum which is one of the main county museums and I have access to their Archives. I'm not entirely sure what they have in them but if anyone needs anything, I'm happy to have a hunt.

Let me know.
