Biography

Birth: February 9, 1744 in Fairfax County Virginia.

Parents: Issac Davis and Elizabeth Kincheloe Davis

Mary, daughter of Isaac Davis dec'd, married John Posey Newman after 23 Apr 1771 but before 2 Dec 1782, as indicated by various deeds in Prince William Co VA:

  1. Deed Book R p 318 - 23 Apr 1771 - In deeds of lease and release, William Davis Jr, to comply with his late father Isaac Davis's desires, grants to all his siblings part of the land he inherited, naming his siblings individually, including sisters Mary Davis and Jane Davis.[1]
  2. Deed Book U p 369 - 2 Dec 1782 - Which explicitly states the parentage and marriage.[2]
  3. Deed Book X p 396 - 25 Mar 1790 - Mary and John are still married at this date, when she and husband John, along with Hugh and Jane Davis (Jane being Mary's sister) sell property to William Davis Jr.[3]

Mary died by about 1800, which is indicated by deed transactions between John and his second wife Ann/Nancy Reid to other parties (primarily Ann's children by her first husband Alexander Reid) in Madison Co KY, beginning in 1802.

Mary, daughter of Isaac, married John Posey Newman after 1772 but before 1782. Her sister Jane married Hugh Davis. This is proved by deed records in Prince William Co that explicitly state the two marriages and that Mary and Jane were Isaac's daughters:

1. PWC Deed Book U p 369 - 2 Dec 1782 - Hugh Davis and John Posey Newman have intermarried with Jane and Mary daughters of Isaac Davis Decd who died intestate - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4N-WTHQ?i=507&cat=369642

2. PWC Deed Book X p 396 - 25 Mar 1790 - Hugh and Jane Davis, and John and Mary Newman - 300 pounds specie, sell to William Davis Jr all their right and title to 3 tracts of land https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4N-STF3?i=461&cat=369642

Davis-4443 and White-23559 appear to represent the same person because: Her name is recorded as White in all documentation. I suspect she was really not a child of Isaac and Elizabeth, maybe an adoptee, or maybe she had a prior marriage which changed DAvis to White.

White-28333 and White-23559 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles clearly represent the same person - Birth year is off by 3 years (41 vs 44) and will need to be reconciled either prior to merge or during merge. Thanks.
