Biography

Joshua was born about 1806. He was a son of Joseph White and Chloe Jones. He married Betsy Liverman on 7 February 1833. She must have died shortly after their marriage. He married Mary Elizabeth Alexander in Tyrell, North Carolina on 5 Mar 1835. ^[1]. They had three known children. He married Mavey Sikes in 1851. She must have passed before 1860 as she does not appear on the census with he and his daughter, Nancy. Joshua died in 1867.

I Joshua J. White being of sound & disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be and contain my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all other will or wills by me heretofore at any time made.

Item 1st - I give and bequeath to my son in Law William C. Dawson, one gray mare, one mule and all of my stock of Hogs.

Item 2nd - After paying my just debts, I give and bequeath the residue of my property, whether real or personal to my two Daughters Nancy F Dawson and Elizabeth Pailin to them and their heirs, forever to be equally divided between them share and share alike.

I nominate and appoint my Son-in-law William C. Dawson sole Executor to this my last will and testament.

Given under my hand and seal this the 2nd day of November 1867
