Biography

  • She was the eldest daughter of Gen. Thomas White.
  • She is mentioned as Mrs. Beasly, a daughter of Thomas White, who lived in the upper end of Hanover county, VA, near what is now Ashland, in the autobiography of William S. White, who was a cousin.
  • She resided in Hanover Co., Virginia at the time of her marriage in 1813.
  • The 1813 newspaper marriage notice spelled Sanford's name as Beasley, and the marriage information for daughter Fannie Ann Beasley, also uses that spelling; however, James Beazley's Bible record spells the last name with a "z", except it's unclear if the first Bible transcription spells it with a "s".
  • Sanford Beasley and his family lived in Orange Co in 1820.
  • She lived in Hanover Co, in a home next to the separate homes of her brothers William L. and Thomas M. White and near the home of her sister, Sophia Tinsley, in 1830. The Census listed her as the head of the household and showed her age as between 30-40 years. One male and two females between 5-10 years and one male and two females between 10-15 years lived with her.
