Biography

Matilda "Tilda" White was born in 1831 in Burke County. North Caolina, United States. She married William Starnes in about 1851. She died in 1865 in Alexander County, North Carolina. She is buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. William went off to serve in the U.S. Civil War and did not come back until after she died.

William and Matilda had the following children [1]:

  2. Calvin (1854-?)
  3. Monroe (1855-?)
  4. Martha (1856-?)
  5. Sarah (after 1860-?)
