Margaret was born in 1841. She was the daughter of Joseph White and Jane Dent.
In the 1850 census [1] Margaret Camilia (age 9) is living in Henderson County, Tennessee with her parents and three siblings. She was first married to Edwin Dickey Plowden. They had two sons, Miles Hampton Jr. in 1859 and Edwin Dickey Jr. in 1861. The 1860 Census [2] shows Edwin, age 24, living with his wife "M.C." (presumably Margaret Camilla) and an infant son Miles Hampton Jr. In that year the 1860 Slave Registry [3] shows four people living as slaves on their plantation. There land appears to be adjacent to that of her in-laws Miles Hampton and Martha Plowden.
Margaret's husband Edwin died in the first year of the Civil War when Miles Hampton Jr. was less than 2 years old and Edwin Dickey Jr. was just 4 months old. The death was reported to be on Margaret's 20th birthday.
Margaret later married Turner Davis. It is not certain when this was; it was probably only about 2 to 3 years after Edwin's death. The first child known to be born with the Davis name was Hannah Jane in 1866. The two Plowden boys kept the Plowden name. In the 1870 census [4] Margaret is married to T. Davis. Her two boys by her first marriage, Miles H. (age 12) and Edwin (age 10) are incorrectly listed with the last name of Davis. Also listed are two daughters by her husband Turner Davis, Hannah H. (age 4) and Frances (10 months).
In the 1900 census [5] Margaret is living with her son Joel Turner Davis and his wife Bernice.
A decade or more after the passing of Turner Davis, Margaret married Joseph T. Hayes. In the 1910 census [6] Margaret is living in Concord, Sumter County, South Carolina with her son Joel Turner Davis and her daughter-in-law Bernice, her two grandsons Joel Turner Jr. (age 7) and James L. (age 11 months), and her husband Joseph T. Hayes. On her Death Certificate she is listed as "Margaret C. Hayes." [7]
Margaret passed away in 1915 and is buried in the Davis Family Cemetery, Sumter, Sumter County, South Carolina Find A Grave: Memorial #78819350 along side her husband Turner Davis. The grave marker that she shares with her second husband reads, "Margaret Camilla Plowden Ne'e White wife of Turner Davis." There is no mention of her third husband Joseph Hayes.

1. One has the maiden name of Plowden and the other has the maiden name of White. White is correct. Plowden was her first husband, followed by Davis, and then there was a third. 2. Unlike the last two, these both show children before the merge so we may end up with duplicate children. If so, we just keep up the process, which is working.
