Biography
Capt Lemuel White Jr was born April 11, 1802 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut to Capt Lemuel White and Abigail Bartlett.[1] He married Almira Higby on October 6, 1824 in New Haven, Connecticut.[2][3]
Lemuel and Almira Higby had 3 children, Charles Carroll White born August 1825, William born October 1827, and a daughter that died in infancy.[1]
Lemuel and his family moved to Charleston, South Carolina in about 1836. [4]
Lemuel was a steamboat captain.[1]
Capt Lemuel White Jr passed away on April 7, 1848 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.[4] He is buried in the First Baptist Churchyard in Charleston, South Carolina.[4]
