Biography

Elsie Zora White, Daughter of William Warren White and Mary Melissa Mead, was born on 13 February 1892 in Kilgore, Cherry County, Nebraska, United States.^[1] She is listed in Cherry County with her parents and siblings in the 1900 US Census,^[2] and in Gasconade, Wright, Missouri in 1910.^[3]

Sometime in 1911, Elsie and her family immigrated to Alberta, Canada where her father applied for and received a Homestead on the NE 1/4 of Section 4, Township: 29; Range: 4; West if the 4th Meridian.^[4]

Elsie married Charles William McMurray on 15 January 1912 in Alsask, Saskatchewan, Canada^[1].They settled on Charles's homestead where they are listed with 2 daughters, Opal Pearl (1912) and Lillian May (1915) in the 1916 Canada Census of the Prairie Provinces.^[5]

A son, Robert Charles, born in 1917, is listed with the family in the 1921 Canada Census.^[6] Robert died in 1922,^[7] a second son, Robert WIlliam was born in 1922, but only lived a few years and died in 1926.^[8]

A 3rd daughter, Laura Charlotte was born in 1928. The family is listed in the 1931 Canada Census.^[9]

Elsie died 8 Apr 1945 in Cereal, Alberta, Canada^[10] She is buried with Charlie in Oyen Cemetery, Oyen, Alberta, Canada.^[11]
