Birth and Upbringing: Peter was born in 1952
Education: He was educated at Sinoia High School
Occupation: Soldier – Rhodesian Army: Service No. 725494
Honours and Awards: BCR (26.09.1975) Peter's BCR Citation states that he showed outstanding qualities of leadership, tactical and tracking skills and personal bravery.
Demise: Killed in action on 28 February 1976, aged 24, while serving as a Temp Sgt with 1 Commando, 1st Battalion, Rhodesian Light Infantry at Chibara Hills, Mt. Darwin, Rhodesia (Operation Hurricane)[1]Died from gunshot wounds in a contact, Chibara Hills, Mt Darwin, Op Hurricane, at the age of 24 following deployment on a follow-up early that morning. Troops were ambushed and Chris Diedericks, who had been tracking in front, was shot and killed. In the ensuing sweep, a further five running contacts took place, during which others troops were all shot and killed.
Burial: Peter White was buried with full military honours at Warren Hills Cemetery, Salisbury [2]
