Eliza White was born in 1873. She was the daughter of mariner, George White and Susan Cole. [1]

In 1881, Eliza was seen with her mother, one sister and three brothers, residing in Albert Terrace, Oystermouth, Glamorganshire. She was seven-years-old. [2]

In 1891, Eliza was 17-years-old and residing with her parents and six siblings, in Brightlingsea, Essex. [3]

In 1895, Eliza married Ethelbert Steward. The marriage was registered in Tendring, Essex. [4]

In 1901, Eliza and her husband were residing in Brightlingsea, Essex. Eliza's husband was a mariner, just as her father was. The couple had one child. A son, also named Ethelbert. [5]

In 1911, Eliza was still seen in the Brightlingsea. It is likely her husband was at sea as the census only contained Eliza and her son. She was 37-years-old. [6]

Eliza and her husband emigrated to New Zealand aboard the "Tainui", which departed Southampton, Hampshire on 23rd February 1922 and arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, on 4th April 1822. [7] Their son was not seen on the passenger list.

Eliza passed away in 1962, at the age of 88. [8] She was buried on 7th May 1962 in Birkenhead/Glenfield Cemetery, in Auckland, New Zealand. [9]
