Hųwąskaga White Elk was a Native American and member of the Ho-Chunk tribe.




Hųwąskaga was born about 1805.


"White Elk" is an attested Elk Clan name. In Hocąk it is Hųwąskaga, from hųwą, "elk"; ska, "white"; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. However, Lurie says of this name, "Clan uncertain, may be Elk or Deer, but Thunder Clan includes some elk names." (Lurie, 68, #97)
