Biography

In the Morristown First Presbyterian Church records appears Isaac Whitehead, son of Isaac II, d. 11 Feb. 1777, age 77, his widow Sarah d. 4 Aug 1804, age 104. Thus Isaac was evidently born ca. 1700.[1]

In his will written 6 Feb 1777 Isaac Whitehead of Morristown, Morris Co., yeoman, mentions his wife Sarah, children Sarah, William, Onesimus, Mary Capamore, Rebecah and Elizabeth, and appoints as executors his son Onesimus and his friend Jabez Condict. Proved 19 Feb 1777.[2]

The last name of his wife Sarah is unknown. Some trees name her as Sarah Van Cortlandt, daughter of Stephen Van Cortlandt and Catharina Staats; however, the Early Bergen County Families file reports that this Sarah "d.. without issue." More evidence needs to be obtained.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:
