Biography

Biography: Joseph was educated in the public school, Rimersburg Academy, and in

Carriers Seminary in Clarion. He began working in the oil fields when a young

man, continuing as a pumper & driller until he met with an accident that so

crippled him that lighter occupation became a necessity. It was written in

1912 that he had interests in 40 oil wells, two farms, Clarion County National

Bank and other profitable enterprises. He was described as "thoroughly modern,

liberal-minded, public-spirited man of affairs and highly regarded by all that

know him". He married Grace Geyer and in 1912 they had listed five children.
