Biography

Mary Ann "Polly" Sparrow, a daughter of Lucey Hanks and Henry Sparrow, was born in 1790 in Mercer County, Kentucky.

She married Benjamin Franklin Hardin Whitehouse in Mercer on July 9, 1808. Her father, Henry Sparrow, witnessed.[1]

  8. Elizabeth Whitehouse Condor (c.1820)
  9. William Whitehouse (c.1822)
  10. Andrew Whitehouse (c.1824)
  11. Mary Whitehouse (c.1828)
  12. Sarah Whitehouse (c.1832)
  13. Lucinda Whitehouse (c.1834)
  14. Martha Ellen Whitehouse (c.1836)

They lived in Mercer with 5 sons and 2 daughters in 1820.[2]

By 1850 they were in Boyle County, with four daughters still at home. The daughters were Mary, 22; Sarah, 19; Lucy, 16; and Martha Ellen, 14.[3] In 1860, still in Boyle, the only daughter remaining at home was Mary, who had three young children by then. Polly's sister, Sarah Sparrow, lived with them.[4]

Mary "Polly" Sparrow Whitehouse died the following year, on September 4, 1861 in Boyle, Kentucky. She is buried at Whitehouse Cemetery #2, Forkland, Boyle, Kentucky.[5]

Shain, Grandson of Paul Raymond Sewell, G. Gibson, Son of Laura Moorman, P. Comfort, Son of Alice Louise Comfort, D. Ellerbrock, Daughter of Brenda L. Blentlinger, S. McTague, Granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Dannenberger, L. Kaplan and D. Kaplan, Daughter and Grandson of Hobart Horton Gay and F. Crose, Grandson of Brenda L. Blentlinger who share a 15.89 cM segment on chromosome 3 with many sharing larger 25-55 cm segments with one to one comparison. Additionally C.Hair, Granddaughter of Shirley Ann Poulter shares parts of the same segment up to 7.77cM-24.32 cM with all except P. Comfort and T. Beaty. The most recent common ancestors shared by all ten individuals are James Wright Sparrow and Mary (White) Sparrow.

Whitehouse-757 and Sparrow-472 appear to represent the same person because: Same individual. Maiden name was Sparrow and married name Whitehouse. Children match as well as husband. Month of death will need sorted but the date and year are the same.
