Richard came to Virginia 17 Nov 1636 from Stafford, England and obtained a land patent 23 Oct 1648 of 250 acres in Lower Norfolk, County, Virginia for transporting Andrew Nicholas and his wife Elizabeth Clements and their sons and daughter Andrew, William and Elizabeth. Lower Norfolk County records db C page 91 and db B page 122 15 Dec 1646 1050 acres assigned to Deborah Glascock for bringing 21 last 7 was assigned to Richard Whitehurst. He was a lawyer. William Whitehurst was the guardian of James, Robert and John Whitehurst 15 Sept 1665 when he was asked for land that belonged to the orphans. Ellen's sister Elizabeth md Andrew Nicholas. He was a first Justice of the Peace Colonial Records of North Carolina Vol 23 page 221. A Vestryman in 1723 same reference Vol 25 page 208. Probably went to Carteret Co., NC between 1700 and 1717.
