The censuses give his Hocąk clan name as MonQuaCheeNeeKah (1910), which is probably for Mą̄kų̄hącinįka (sounding rather like Mą̄kwącinįka), "Little Lodge Below the Earth", from mą̄, "earth, ground"; kų̄hą́ , "under, underneath, from below"; ci, "lodge, home, dwelling; to live"; nįk, "little, small"; and -ka, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is a Lower (Earth) Moiety name.
He was of medium height, a stout body, with black hair and brown eyes. (Draft Card)
