Jake was born about 1865.

Name and Moiety

In several censuses (vide 1905), he is given the name Ma He Roo Zhoo Kah, which is for Mą̄xírožúga, "He Who Leads the Clouds." It derives from mą̄xí, "clouds, sky, heavens"; hirožú, "to lead"; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an upper moiety name, which implies that his actual father was of that moiety. "Whiterabbit" is a Lower Moiety name, suggesting that he was adopted by a Whiterabbit, almost certainly Longtail (Sįjᵋserečka) Whiterabbit, who lived next to him according to a number of censuses. (cp. 1905)

In the 1905 Wisconsin State census, the whole family is entered under the surname "Decorra". This tends to lead to the conclusion that Jake was the natural son of a Decorra and was, for unknown reasons, adopted by a Whiterabbit family, probably that of Longtail Whiterabbit. The Decorra family is descended from Sabrevoir de Carrie and his wife, Glory of the Morning.
