Biography

Birth

Joseph was born about 1887. He is the son of George Seymour and Ahuxururewįga Slow Wings.

Name

Joseph's birth order name was Hagaga, "Third Son." (1893 census) His clan name was Sakewaručka, "He who Eats Raw Flesh," from saké, "to be raw"; waruč, "to eat, he eats"; and -ka, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an attested name in the Upper Moiety, but many names are used by clans from both moieties, as is appropriate to their clans. In this case, Joseph belonged to the Bear Clan and was named in honor of the carnivory of bears.

Service

Joseph was a veteran of WWI, enlisting 26 July 1917, and completing his service 7 December 1917. (Daily Trib.)

Marriage

Joseph married Angeline Bigelk White, daughter of Henry Bigelk, in 1950 in Wisconsin. (Daily Trib.)

Death

Joseph died at age 73 at Riverview Hospital, Nekoosa, Wisconsin at 2 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 1961 a week after suffering a stroke. (Daily Trib.) He is buried in Dexterville Cemetery, Dexterville, Wood County, Wisconsin. (Find a Grave)
