James M. Whitifield was born in 1830 in South Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Whitfield and Lucinda Hyde.
He married Francis Gragg on 17 September 1852 in Cherokee County, Georgia.[1] She was previously married to Hamilton Gragg.
He married Jane Winn on 30 March 1871 in Shelby County, Alabama. [2]
James died 12 April 1917 and is buried at McGhee Cemetery, Adona, Perry County, Arkansas.[3]
