Lavina was born in 1831 in Tennessee. She is the daughter of Benjamin Whitfield and Elizabeth Herrod. The family moved to Izard County, Arkansas about 1842.[1]
She married Cullen Porter Hodges in about 1865. He had children from a previous marriage. Their children together were Laura, [2] Richard Frank, Joe, Samuel, Kate, Eugenia and Angie.[3]
In 1910 and 1920 she was living with daughter Angie and a granddaughter.[4]
She passed away in 1929 at the age of 98. Lavina is buried at the Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Larkin, Izard County, Arkansas. Her page lists and has links to her spouse, 5 children. [5]
Research Notes
There are no actual records showing her name to be Sarah. Just Lavin((i)a, Levina, Lenna, Vina. Husband's first wife was Sarah.
Children: 6 are listed on her FamilySearch page, link below. Note: 9 are listed on the 1880 Census.
Ancestry lists her as Lavinia Whitfield & her parent's as Benjamin Whitfield 1806 - 1900 and Ada Elizabeth (Harrod) Whitfield 1810 - 1870. Needs to be researched. There are records on wikitree for them is that proves to be correct. Benjamin: Whitfield-203 and Elizabeth: Herrod-6 (spelled Herrod)

Discrepancies with dob. While obit has year of 1831 and that was used on tombstone, censuses have her born 1832-36.
