Seabron Britt Whitfield was born in Georgia in 1805, moved to Jackson County, Florida with his family about 1825 and eventually made his way to Hancock County, Mississippi in 1845. It is an enduring mystery how the Seabron Britt line of Whitfields relate to the lines in North Carolina and Virginia.

He moved to Jackson County, Florida before 9/1838 when he entered the War of 1838 at Campbelton, Florida. He served as a Private in the Company commanded by Capt. Stephen Daniell and in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Sevin Brown. He served for a term of 30 days and was honorably discharged at Campbelton, Florida in 11/1838. He continued to reside in Florida until 1845 and from that year until his death, resided in the Hancock County, Mississippi area.
