Biography
This profile is part of the Whiting Name Study.
George was born in 1858 at Launceston, Tasmania to Edward Whiting and Eliza Walbourn.
In 1862 he sailed with his family to New Zealand arriving at Port Chalmers.
His family settled in Southland for a time. George moved to Marlborough and in 1883 married to Mary Jane Thompson of Keneperu Sound, Picton.
He worked as a fisherman during the 1880's and later as a wharf labourer.
George Whiting died in 1947 at Wanganui. CREMATION.
