Biography
Liston was born in 1931. He was a son of Osby Whitley & Gertrude Presley. He married Shelvie Shepherd in 1952 & had 3 children over the next 8 years: Roger (b. 1953), Teresa (b. 1956), & Karen (b.1960). Sometime before 1964, Liston & Jean divorced. He remarried in 1966 to Mary Efird. He died in 1995 in Salisbury, NC.[1]

Liston Whitley
Liston Odell "Red" Whitley, 63, of 1301 Green Acre Dr., Albemarle, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday, May 29, 1995 in the VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Northcrest Chapel of Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. The Rev. Bobby Sutherland will officiate and burial will be in the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
Born Sept. 29, 1931, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Osby Odell and Gertrude Presley Whitley and was educated in Stanly County schools. He was retired from Wiscassett and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by one son, Roger Whitley of Rockwell: two daughters, Teresa Hopson and Karen Crainshaw, both of Kannapolis; two sisters, Virginia Burris of Locust and Lucille Starnes of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.[2]
