William was born on March 16,1841 in Tazewell County, Virginia and a son of James Whitney and Hester Totten. William married Sarah Ann Whitney on February 25,1863 in Chariton County, Missouri. He passed away on December 16,1931 in Arcola, Dade County, Missouri and buried in the Omer Cemetery in Stockton, Cedar County, MIssouri. [1]

He married Sarah Ann Sellers on 25 February 1863, in Linn, Missouri, United States. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Linn, Osage, Missouri, United States in 1860 and North Township, Dade, Missouri, United States for about 20 years. He died on 16 December 1931, in Arcola, Dade, Missouri, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Cedar, Missouri, United States.
