Myrtle Luella Whitmer was born on November 24, 1883 in Hand, South Dakota. Her parents are Morris and Mary Whitmer. Myrtle was the first of four children.
The Whitmer family lived in South Dakota until after 1885. It is unclear if the family moved back to Iowa before or after the death of Morris in 1898. The family was living in Iowa according to the 1900 US Census.
Myrtle continued living in Iowa until sometime between 1935 and 1940 when she moved to the Los Angeles area of California. It seems that she made her permanent home in California, where she passed away on August 4, 1961 in Los Angeles, California.
