James Richard Whitmire was listed as the father of James Franklin Whitmire who was born December 22, 1900 in Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina.^[1]

James R Whitmire was enumerated as head of the household at Catheys Creek, Transylvania County, North Carolina for the April 15, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1867 in North Carolina and married. He was first married at the age of twenty-one. He was an owner of a home worth $1500 and a farmer on a general farm as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Magie D Whitmire, daughter Ruby L Whitmire, daughter Annie V Whitmire and son Avery M Whitmire.^[2]

James Richard Whitmire was listed as the father of Annie Whitmire Orr who died December 28, 1991 in Brevard, Transylvania County, North Carolina. The mother was listed as Maggie Lyon Whitmire and the husband Arthur L. Orr.^[3]

James Richard Whitmire is buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Calvert, Transylvania County, North Carolina.^[4]
