Biography

Youngest child of Levi and Emma Mann Whitmire, born 11 Oct 1902 at the family farm in Salem Township just east of Summerhill.

Mary attended Bloomsburg State Normal School before teaching for a time in Berwick.

She married sometime from 1921–3 to Charles E. Nagle of Nescopeck, son of W. D. and Nora Miller Nagle. They lived in Berwick for a short time before removing to Wilkes-Barre shortly after their first child. In Wilkes-Barre she worked at Kutz Bakery with her husband for many years.

Her husband passed in 1968, Mary moving back to Berwick in 1974; she was a resident of 548 West Front Street at the time of her passing on 15 Jul 1994. She was laid to rest beside her husband on 18 Jul at Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street, Berwick. She was survived by a daughter, two sons, seventeen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
