Sarah was baptised in Shearsby, Leicestershire on 23 March 1806 [1][2]. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Whitmore.
In 1832 she gave birth to an illegitimate son, Henry[3].
On 17 April 1841 she was charged at the Lutterworth Petty Sessions with being a rogue and a vagabond by the Shearsby parish officers. [4]. They claimed that she was 'a woman of loose character, and had been convicted before as a disorderly person, in leaving her children chargeable to the parish'. She was committed to the House of Correction for three months.
