Biography

Caroline was born around 1810 in England.

George Lea, bachelor, and Caroline Whitmore, spinster, both of the parish of Edgbaston, were married by Banns on 23rd May 1833 at St Batholomew, Edgbaston in Warwickshire. Witness the marriage was Joseph Harrison. [1] [2]

Caroline, aged 84 years, passed away at Thebarton on the 25th September 1892. [3] and was interred in Hindmarsh Cemetery on 27th September 1892. Find A Grave: Memorial #215280361

DEATHS
LEA.— On the 25th September, at George-street, Thebarton, Caroline Lea, true and faithful wife of George Lea, in her 80th year, and beloved mother of Mrs. Malcolm McKenzie, of Aldinsa; Mrs. John Lander, of Moonta and Broken Hill; H. E. Lea, Hindmarsh; A. G. Lea, Hemington. An old colonist of 53 years. [4]

Research Notes

The FamilySearch tree entry gives her birthplace as Cheshire, but there is no source for the information. As she married in Warwickshire, in the absence of sourced information to the contrary the likeliest thing is she was also born there.

Caroline was born in 1808. Caroline Whitmore ... She passed away in 1896.
