Ray's parents were Elmer W Whitney and Nora Brewer married about 1890, probably in Nebraska. A few years later, his family moved to Santa Ana, Orange, CA where they are found in the 1910 census and his WWI draft card lists him living there at age 17 and is an iron worker.
Irene says that they were long time friends. So after her divorce from Frank, they were married in 1930.[1] Ray is now working in the oil industry and they are found in the 1940 census for Ventura CA and shows they were living in Bakersfield CA in 1935, both oil towns in those days. His work took Ray and Irene to Brazil twice for 3 years in 1941 &1948. After retirement, Ray and Irene lived in Fallbrook and Ventura CA where Ray died in 1978.[2]
Ray took really good care of Irene and Jerry. He was a loving father and husband to them as well has his "grandchildren". Ray adopted Jerry in 1941. He was always "Dad" to Jerry. Irene and Ray did not have children of their own.
