Biography

Aaron Whitney was born on 7 June 1741 in York, Maine. His parents were Nathaniel Whitney and Hannah (Day) Whitney[1].

He married Jane "Jenny" McLellan. They had ten children[1]:

1. Hannah, born 20 Jul 1766
2. Annah, born 18 Oct 1767
3. Samuel, born 22 May 1769; died 1773[2]
4. Jenny, born 10 May 1771; married David Johnson
5. Sarah, born 8 Jun 1773
6. Susanna, born 16 Feb 1775; married James Merrill
7. Tabitha, born 16 May 1777
8. Miriam, born 16 May 1777
9. Betsey, born 7 May 1780
10. Silas

Aaron and his family joined the Shaker Movement sometime after 1780, relocating to Alfred, Maine. Aaron passed away there on 19 June 1815[1].
