Biography

Josiah was born in 1731. He was the son of David Whitney and Elizabeth Warren. He passed away in 1824.

Revd. Mr. Josiah Whitney of Pomfret (Connecticut) married Lois Breck of Springfield, Massachusetts, in Springfield on 1 September 1756.[1] They had entered their intentions of marriage in Springfield on 20 July 1756.[2] The marriage on 1 September 1756 is also recorded in Pomfret vital records, where the name of the bride appears as Mrs. Lois Brisby.[3]

Children of Rev. Josiah Whitney and wife Lois were:[3]

  1. Robert Breck, born 15 September 1757 in Pomfret; died 21 December 1763 in Pomfret.
  2. Eunice, born 22 January 1759 in Pomfret; died 14 September 1762 in Pomfret.
  3. George, born 9 December 1760 in Pomfret; died 8 February 1782 in Pomfret.
  4. David, born 15 October 1762 in Pomfret; died 16 March 1782 in Pomfret.
  5. Robert Breck, born 18 June 1764 in Pomfret.
  6. Eunice, born 28 March 1766 in Pomfret.
  7. Lois, born 9 March 1768 in Pomfret.
  8. Elizabeth, born 30 May 1770 in Pomfret.
